Canada Considers Investment in Missile Defense Shield
OTTAWA – Canada is looking into the possibility of investing in the $17.5 billion Golden Dome missile defense system that President Trump has proposed, Prime Minister Mark Kearney mentioned on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Trump announced that he had been designated as a General in the Space Force, with the goal of leading the design of the project to address threats from China and Russia.
Kearney, who secured victory in the April elections by vowing to confront the challenges posed by Trump, stated that he has had multiple discussions with the president regarding the Golden Dome concept.
“We are capable of completing the Golden Dome through investments and partnerships, and that’s what we envision. This was discussed at a very high level,” he explained during a press conference.
“Is it a sound choice for Canada? Well, I would suggest that safeguarding Canadians and Canada is a priority,” he added.
Kearney did not disclose how much Canada might allocate if it decides to join the Dome Project.
