Actor Anthony Mackie, who plays Marvel's latest incarnation of Captain America in “Captain America: Brave New World,” warned that American masculinity is necessary and exceptional.
Mackey has made many headlines in recent months and has won the iconic Captain America role in the Marvel films from his popular predecessor Chris Evans. On Tuesday, “The Pivot Podcast” released a massive interview. There, the actor talked about both his career and his personal life.
“For the past 20 years, we have lived through the deaths of American men,” Mackie said. “They literally killed masculinity in our homes and in our communities for some reason, but I'm raising boys to young men.”
He explained that he believes that becoming a young man is both maturity and the ability to become a guardian.

“My boys will always be respectful,” he said, explaining how he taught his sons to have good manners and to look after their mothers from a young age. “Every time I leave for work, I am 15-year-old 'You're the guy at home. You make sure these doors are locked every night, this alarm is on, you text me or call me every night before you go to bed and you wake up.”
“We're men,” Mackie continued. “If I'm not there to protect him, he has to be there to protect him. [sic] The money is meaningless from the window. You can have all the “celebrities” in the world, [if a] Motherf — ER Jump [sic] Through the door, that “celebrity” means nothing. So you started having a little security guard there. ”
Mackie argued that “the idea of masculinity in America is very different.”
“When you go to Europe, you feel that,” he said. Mackie revealed that he often thinks, “I can crush your ass.”

Even in Africa, veteran movie stars feel that American masculinity is clearly different. He was in Kenya when a spectator told him, “You're not from here,” and replied, “I can tell you that I'm not from here.”
“That's it. I think masculinity in American men is something that I think is very important to boys. Now, our little boys are afraid to fail, so they won't try,” lamented Mackie.
Mackie has built the waves by talking about masculinity before. When he appeared on The Wendy Williams Show, he and his host spoke about their mutual support for “traditional” gender roles. He said he believes men are people who protect, garden work and perform certain courtesy for women, but his wife does things like “make Dad a sandwich.”
When the co-host of “The Pivot Podcast” stated that many young men no longer know how to meet women, Mackie insisted that the women themselves were partially responsible.

“The women… they're so mean and very angry,” Mackie said.
He then saw his nephew approaching the woman and politely shared the anecdote by saying, “Sorry, how are you?” She responded with a sound of disgust.
“How do you get back from there?” he asked as his co-host laughed. “He just walked over to me, I gave him his beer, I said, 'You're going there. It didn't happen. It didn't happen. Let's start.”
