Car Explosion in Palm Springs Leaves One Person Dead and Damages Fertility Clinic

Palm Springs Car Explosion Claims Life, Damages Clinic

Recent reports indicate that an explosion involving a car in Palm Springs, California, has resulted in at least one death and caused significant damage to a local fertility clinic.

Mayor Ron DeJarte mentioned that a structure was still ablaze following the incident, according to New York Times.

Eyewitness accounts began to emerge around 11 a.m. local time, with social media flooded by comments about a loud boom and shared images of shattered glass.

The explosion, which occurred less than a mile from downtown Palm Springs, prompted numerous reports of a “big boom” as well as visuals showing broken glass and rising smoke.

Claudio Chavez, who owns a nearby upholstery store, reported that the windows were blown out due to the force of the explosion. “I was just waiting for a client when suddenly it felt like a big explosion. I saw a lot of smoke,” he shared.

U.S. Attorney Bill Essayri, from the Central District of California, acknowledged the explosion on social media, stating his office was aware of the situation.

The FBI is on the scene and is investigating whether the explosion was intentional. Once more details are available, further information will be shared, he noted.

Authorities indicated they are well-acquainted with handling such investigations. Reports also suggest that one person has tragically died in the aftermath of the explosion.

Witnesses described the force of the blast as “strong,” and sources mentioned extensive debris scattered across the area, impacting several businesses nearby.
