That terrifying image Retrieved from ABC 7; A dark-colored Jeep is shown speeding down the sidewalk at East 35th Street and Church Avenue in East Flatbush on Monday afternoon.
The car then crashed through the discount store's entrance, crashing through displays and flying over a furniture store, sending merchandise flying in all directions.
The store owner said the sound was “like a big thunderclap, like a storm or something coming.”
The horrifying footage shows a woman narrowly escaping from the car's path, while men sitting on nearby benches scramble out of harm's way.
The shop owner said a young man was also thrown from the scooter onto the sidewalk.
“He fell and got scared and ran away on his horse,” his owner said.
Police say the driver, a 38-year-old man, suffered a medical crisis and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a pharmacy on the corner of East 35th Street.
Officials said the driver was conscious and alert at the time of the crash, but did not say what the medical episode was.
He was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
No other injuries were reported.
