Car Crashes into Backyard in Laughlin, Nevada

Surveillance footage from a Southern Nevada home captured a shocking scene where a car crashed through a backyard wall, flying into the air and landing in a private pool. This incident occurred late on December 15 in Laughlin.

Reports indicate that the driver may have been speeding and failed to stop, which led to the collision with a concrete wall. The footage shows a white vehicle spinning through the air before crashing into the roof of a pool house and landing near the pool.

After the crash, witnesses saw the driver, who had been thrown from the vehicle, struggling in the water. The homeowner, Cletis Reed, described hearing a loud noise akin to “a freight train” and rushed outside to see his backyard in ruins, with a woman floating in the pool. “I thought something had happened in the street. My entire backyard was destroyed,” Reed shared. “Everything just blew up.”

Reed recounted an earlier moment when he was about to step into his hot tub, situated near the collapsed wall. “I opened the cover and thought I had to say something to my wife,” he said. “By the grace of God, I’m here. If I had stood there, I would have died.”

The driver ended up in the shallow end of the pool, which was only about waist-deep. Reed noted, “She was blessed, and I was blessed.” Shortly after, Reed and his crew managed to pull the driver from the water; she was conscious but noticeably disoriented.

As Reed was questioned by police about 15 minutes after the accident, he reflected on the damage caused. The car had landed in such an awkward position that a tow truck had to use a crane to remove it. Reed mentioned he had put his retirement savings into creating a backyard retreat, including a resort-style pool, now severely damaged. The incident contaminated his 25,000-gallon pool with motor oil, and he estimates that repairs could reach close to $300,000, potentially necessitating a complete drainage of the pool.

The driver was taken to a hospital in Arizona following the incident.
