Cardi B and Kamala Harris support Jasmine Crockett in important US Senate race in Texas: 'Okurrr'

Support for Jasmine Crockett’s Senate Campaign

On Friday, Jasmine Crockett, a Democratic Representative from Texas, received significant support for her campaign for a U.S. Senate seat. This backing came from both Cardi B, the well-known rap artist, and Kamala Harris, who recently ran for the presidency.

Both women voiced their endorsement of Crockett as she competes in the primary against James Talarico, a former middle school teacher and state representative.

Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marenis Almanzar, shared her endorsement via social media, reaching millions of followers. She urged Texans to vote, emphasizing the importance of Crockett in the Senate race. “Listen, everyone. Texas is having early voting right now, and we need Jasmine Crockett to win,” she stated. The artist also highlighted Crockett’s commitment to advocacy, insisting, “If you want someone to fight for your rights, vote for my sister Jasmine Crockett.” This heartfelt appeal resonated with supporters, and Crockett responded, expressing her excitement and reminding followers that early voting was nearing its end.

Kamala Harris, in a robocall, also reinforced her support, stating that Texas has an opportunity to elect someone like Crockett who has the experience to hold powerful figures, including Donald Trump, accountable.

The upcoming nomination will determine who faces off against a Republican candidate. This selection will either come from Attorney General Ken Paxton, incumbent Senator John Cornyn, or Representative Wesley Hunt. Should a Democrat win, it could alter the political landscape and potentially shift control of the Senate.

Polls show Crockett currently leading Talarico by a margin of 56% to 44%. Interestingly, the dynamic primary race recently caught the national spotlight due to a comment made by Stephen Colbert, suggesting new FCC regulations impacted his interview with Talarico. Remarkably, Crockett defended the situation, claiming there were alternatives given to Colbert that he declined.

She also mentioned her motivation for entering the race, linking it to a sense of “karmic” justice against Republican strategies that she believes unfairly restructured Texas’s district lines.
