Cardinals’ Nolan Arenado collides with young girl while making a diving catch, gives family a ball in a heartwarming moment

One family’s outing to the game took an unexpected turn on Sunday.

During the eighth inning of the second game in a doubleheader between the Mets and the Cardinals, a foul ball headed straight for Nolan Arenado, St. Louis’s third baseman, on the third base side at Busch Stadium.

Arenado was in pursuit of the ball as Mets’ Juan Soto caught it, but his momentum led him crashing into the net and then into his family sitting in the front row.

The family included five members, two of whom were young girls that took the brunt of the encounter as Arenado tumbled into the seats.

Fortunately, once he got up, both girls appeared to be alright, and Arenado quickly checked on them.

He apologized for the fall, leaving behind a ball as a souvenir for the family.

In terms of performance, Arenado had a solid day, recording an RBI and tallying two hits in four at-bats during the second game of the doubleheader.

He also went 2-for-3 with a walk in the first game.

The Cardinals emerged victorious in both games, winning 6-5 in the first and 5-4 in the second.
