On Fox Business Network’s “Kudlow” show Friday, Breitbart News economics editor John Carney said that former President Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, “got help from Joe Biden because Joe Biden lied over and over and over again about the economy in Thursday’s debate,” and that “it’s really damaging,” Biden said, because Biden is trying to sell himself as an honest candidate.
Carney said at the debate [relevant remarks begin around 1:15] Trump said, “I was all about defending the economic record so far and what I’m going to do next. Joe Biden did a good job of attacking the tariffs because he said they were an attack on the middle class. I got Joe Biden’s support because Joe Biden has lied over and over about the economy. This is really damaging. Look at what Joe said. I’m a truth teller. This is what Barack Obama said. They’re trying to sell him as a truth teller. The first question was about the economy. Why do people feel good? Why do people feel better under Trump than under Biden? Biden said the economy was in ruins when I took office. But it wasn’t in ruins. We grew 33 percent. He only grew 4 percent.”
