Caroline Kennedy is not supportive of her son entering politics, according to sources.

Concerns for Jack Schlossberg’s Political Ambitions

Caroline Kennedy reportedly fears for her son Jack Schlossberg’s safety should he decide to pursue a political career. A source mentioned that she’s worried he might become a “target of violent hateful people” if he announces his candidacy for Congress.

Despite his mother’s concerns, Schlossberg seems eager to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, President John F. Kennedy. “Caroline has pleaded with Jack not to run,” the source added, noting that the Kennedy family has a long history in politics.

Schlossberg, a progressive Democrat with around 1.6 million followers on social media, is set to announce his candidacy for the Manhattan Assembly seat currently held by retiring politician Jerrold Nadler, who has represented the area for over 30 years.

In September, Schlossberg began forming a committee to explore his political options and has reportedly started assembling a campaign team.

A source emphasized how alarming this decision is for Caroline, highlighting her belief that politics has become increasingly dangerous and unpredictable. “She doesn’t want her only son to enter the office amid this toxic climate,” they said.

Nadler, who recently announced his retirement, mentioned that “the time is right to pass the torch to a new generation.”

Three candidates have already declared their intentions to run in the Democratic primary: Alex Boaz, who represents Manhattan’s 73rd District; State Rep. Micah Lasher, who was mentored by Nadler; and Liam Elkind, founder of the nonprofit Invisible Hands.

There were rumors of a potential contest between Schlossberg and Chelsea Clinton, but those claims have been dismissed by his team.

In August, Schlossberg received validation from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer when he was appointed to a committee for planning the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. Schumer noted, “There’s no one better suited to push back on that than you, Jack.”

Schlossberg has gained attention not only for his political aspirations but also for his eccentric social media presence. He has made headlines with bizarre jokes, including a remark about becoming a father with the wife of politician Usha Vance, and even compared his attractiveness to his late grandmother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

He has been critical of family members, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., mocking him on social media during public appearances.

Concerns extend beyond personal safety; family sources expressed that the recent rise in anti-Semitism in the U.S. weighs heavily on Caroline’s mind, especially given her son’s background. While her husband, Edwin Schlossberg, is Jewish, they were married in a Catholic ceremony.

In a tongue-in-cheek Instagram post, Schlossberg once commented on his resemblance to his father, poking fun at the notion of exaggerated family traits.
