Carrie Prejean Boller accused of disrupting antisemitism hearing by displaying a Palestinian flag

Prejean Boller Ousted from White House Religious Council

Former Miss California winner Carrie Prejean Boller was swiftly removed from the White House Religious Council amid allegations of attempting to disrupt hearings focused on anti-Semitism. This move received commendation from various religious leaders and conservatives.

A former Trump administration member expressed relief at her expulsion, stating, “These committees aim to further the president’s policies, not to promote personal hatred against Jews.” According to Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who heads the commission, Prejean Boller was accused of trying to shift the focus of a recent hearing on anti-Semitism in the U.S. to promote her personal and political agenda.

Having won the Miss California USA title in 2009, Prejean Boller was later stripped of her crown for violating her contract. She initially garnered national attention when she publicly opposed the legalization of same-sex marriage during the pageant.

At a hearing held at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., Prejean Boller wore a Palestinian flag pin. During discussions, she invoked her Catholic faith while denying support for Zionism.

She stated, “I’m a Catholic, and Catholics don’t accept Zionism,” prompting swift backlash. Catholic League President Bill Donahue urged her removal, claiming she misrepresents Catholic beliefs.

Carney, president of the pro-life organization 40 Days for Life, dismissed her assertions about Catholics and Jews as recent fabrications, defending the traditional Catholic relationship with Judaism.

Discussions at the hearing became heated, especially between Prejean Boller and Shabbos Kestenbaum, a Harvard student who has been vocal about anti-Semitism in academic institutions. Prejean interrogated Kestenbaum regarding his views on Israeli actions in Gaza and defended commentator Candace Owens when questioned about her remarks.

Responses from Trump-era officials reinforced that supporting Israel has been a significant priority for President Trump, who has taken substantial actions in support of the Jewish community. Comments highlighted his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and efforts to enhance religious freedom for both Catholics and Jews.

Despite her removal, Prejean Boller insisted she was unjustly targeted, stating that only the president has the authority to dismiss her. In her remarks on social media, she maintained her stance against Israel, suggesting that she would never submit to its influence.

In the backdrop of these exchanges, influential figures like Texas Senator Ted Cruz and others commented on the perceptions around Prejean’s stance, indicating concerns about anti-Semitic sentiments being incorrectly attributed to Catholic beliefs.

The situation around Prejean Boller continues to evolve, with a mix of support and condemnation emerging from various quarters.
