Goodbye, platinum blonde.
After sporting a striking platinum hair color for 30 years, Carrie Underwood has caught fans off guard by going back to a more natural, darker hue.
The “American Idol” judge shared her new look in an Instagram post, humorously noting, “Well, the last time I saw a natural hair color, I was probably around 12 years old. I thought it might be time to give it a second chance.” She gave a shoutout to her stylist, thanking @hairbykatelin_ for the transformation.
In this set of photos, her glossy locks are styled with soft curls that lay just below her shoulders.
Fans are embracing this change, commenting on how much healthier it looks compared to her previous extensions. One user exclaimed, “It looks much better than the blonde extensions. It looks healthy and natural!” Another echoed this sentiment with, “🙌Yass!! I hope more women embrace natural colors! It looks great.” A third person added, “Love it! It stands out from all the other blondes! Perfect!”
Nashville’s hairstylist also shared an Instagram post stating, “Take @CarrieUnderwood to her more natural side | Cut, Colour, Style.”
Back in 2014, during her peak with “Before He Cheats,” Carrie expressed to Refinery29 her willingness to change her hair color, admitting she’s been blonde for so long. She mentioned the challenge of wanting to surprise fans without shocking them completely.
Reflecting on her journey, she said, “Perhaps I should have started changing my hair earlier.” Maybe this marks the beginning of a new beauty phase for country singers.
