Carrie Underwood’s Thoughtful Gift to ‘American Idol’ Contestant
Carrie Underwood, celebrated for her generosity, recently made headlines with a heartwarming gesture. On Monday, Hannah Harper, an “American Idol” contestant, shared that Underwood, who serves as a judge on the show, surprised her with Tiffany jewelry and a personal handwritten note, congratulating her on advancing to the top 11 in the competition.
Harper expressed her disbelief, saying on Facebook, “I never imagined my first piece of Tiffany jewelry would come from Carrie Underwood.” She continued, “But honestly, the handwritten note meant the most to me. It shows the kind of person she is—so grounded and genuine. She truly is a decent and kind human being. I just adore her.” Harper also posted an image of the Tiffany package alongside the note, which read, “From the first time I saw you and heard your story and voice, I knew you were special.”
Harper’s touching story resonated widely, particularly among women and mothers, who see her as an inspiration. During her audition, she delivered an original song about her struggles with postpartum depression.
Underwood, who was visibly moved as Harper performed, called her song “String Cheese” the most relatable song she had ever heard. Hannah shared that she wrote the song after her youngest son was born a year ago. Reflecting on her journey, she shared how her son prompted her to open a snack, saying, “Hey, mom, open this,” which ultimately spurred her to recognize her role as a mother.
“I realized home was the greatest service I could provide as a mother,” she said. “So, I got off the couch and stopped feeling sorry for myself.” Harper emphasized her journey back from postpartum depression, stating, “I kicked postpartum depression’s butt, but I said, ‘I’m not going there again.'”
Afterward, Underwood remarked that Harper appeared to have a natural charm and presence, even suggesting she looked like someone already famous. “I just feel like I’m rooting for you,” Underwood stated, admitting her excitement about Harper’s performances ahead in the competition. “I loved everything you did,” she added, hinting at a bond beyond the show.
