Carrie Underwood Relishes Life on Her Farm

Carrie Underwood, renowned for her country music career and role as a judge on “American Idol,” finds joy in the simple pleasures of farm life just outside Nashville. Along with her husband, Mike Fisher, and their two kids, Isaiah and Jacob, she embraces the rural lifestyle, which includes growing fresh produce and raising animals.

Underwood recently shared photos highlighting her successful tomato and peach harvest. Earlier in June, she posted about tending to sheep, mentioning how visiting the orchard inspired her to pray amidst the beauty of nature. “I love praying loudly in the orchard…it’s so beautiful and peaceful,” she reflected, recalling an unexpected moment with a harmless snake that gave her a little scare.

She noted, “The devil is always there…Even if we feel closest to God, being a Christian isn’t a free ticket from issues.” Despite this acknowledgment, Underwood continues to hold her faith central in her life.

Just a few days prior to discussing her encounter with the snake, Underwood talked about her canning endeavors, which she finds efficient for quick meals. “I tried to do something with all the plums growing up here,” she mentioned, albeit uncertain about whether she successfully made jam or some sauce. Still, her optimistic outlook shines through as she embraces the challenges of farm life.

Having garnered fame by winning season 4 of “American Idol,” Underwood returned to the show as a judge this past season. Interestingly, she connected her judging experience to her farm life by naming a lamb after the winner of “American Idol,” Jamal Roberts, who was born on the same day as the show’s finale.

Her farm lifestyle has made its way into her public persona, evident when she wore a crochet shirt adorned with tomato designs during a taping. Underwood’s commitment to gardening took off after moving to Tennessee, and the pandemic helped her delve deeper into these nurturing activities. “I love the heat here in Tennessee, and it made me happy growing something out of nothing,” she expressed, describing each harvest as a small miracle.

In various instances, she’s mentioned her hopes of becoming self-sufficient, aiming for all family meals to come from their farm or her husband’s hunting. “We eat what we have. We eat each season. It’s delicious because it’s food,” Underwood stated, emphasizing her sustainable approach to eating and minimal food waste. Any scraps not used are either composted or fed to their chickens, showcasing her commitment to a holistic lifestyle.

Underwood finds fulfillment in the physicality of farming, saying, “Fun. You know you’re doing something good for you.” Her journey to blend her celebrity status with an authentic homestead lifestyle certainly paints a charming picture of a modern country girl embracing the joys of nature and family.
