Carson Beck’s Emotional Victory in Fiesta Bowl

After making a game-winning touchdown that marked a high point in his college career, Carson Beck was visibly emotional following Miami’s win over Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday. This game also signified the end of his sixth season at Miami, his second school.

“It’s honestly the best feeling of my life,” Beck shared with ESPN, referring to his decisive touchdown run with just 18 seconds remaining. “I’m so proud of this team. We kept our cool. I mean, given the tough times we faced, we really stepped up. We never gave up.”

“If you looked at the players on the sideline, the determination was clear. You just knew something special was about to happen.”

Beck, who switched to Miami after five years at the University of Georgia where he won two national titles, threw for 268 yards and two TDs in the College Football Playoff semifinals. However, it was his 3-yard touchdown run that gave the Hurricanes a crucial 31-27 lead after a strong response from Ole Miss in the second half.

Over the season, Beck accumulated impressive stats, totaling 3,581 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions—quite a recovery after his UCL injury in last year’s SEC Championship Game.

This recent series of games has been, perhaps, the most surprising chapter of an already unexpected season for the Hurricanes. Despite not reaching the ACC Championship game, they still secured a CFP spot as the No. 10 seed, defeating teams like Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.

Beck explained his mindset before the final drive, telling his team, “You have three minutes left. Honestly, nothing else matters. It’s all about getting through this moment. Everything we’ve practiced since January leads us to this.”

He added, “I was just focused, cornering in, and finishing strong.”

Looking ahead, Beck eyes his chance to secure a third national championship and, notably, his first as a starter when Miami faces the winner of Indiana versus Oregon on January 19. The game promises to have a familiar feel as it’s set to take place at Hard Rock Stadium.
