Miami’s Carson Beck Reflects on National Championship Loss

Carson Beck, the Miami Hurricanes quarterback, fought hard during the College Football National Championship but ultimately fell short against the Indiana Hoosiers.

Interestingly, most of the backlash aimed at Beck wasn’t about how he played, but rather his behavior after the game. He was spotted leaving the field without shaking hands with his opponents, which raised some eyebrows.

He didn’t really explain his exit, but those final moments on the field seemed to shake him up. There was a tough hit from an Indiana defender right after he threw a pass, which led to a penalty against the Hoosiers for roughing the passer.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel pointed out that this incident might have left Beck with an injury. He shared, “Carson took a late hit from an Indiana defensive tackle, and honestly, he didn’t look good. When I saw him in the locker room, I asked how he felt after that play, and he just said, ‘My ears are still ringing.’” It was kind of a striking moment, revealing how intense the game really was.

In another discussion, it was noted how Beck appeared visibly impacted, not just from the loss but also from that hit. He wasn’t concussed, but pain seemed evident, especially in his upper body.

Statistically, he had a mix of highs and lows, completing 19 of 32 attempts for 232 yards, with one touchdown and the game-ending interception.

Reflecting on his season with Miami, he called it the best year of his life—not purely for the wins or even the championship opportunities, but because of how much he grew. “A year ago, I was in a pretty dark spot, struggling to find hope,” he shared. “It’s been a challenging journey, emotionally and mentally.”
