Carson Bransteen’s Wimbledon Debut
Carson Bransteen, a rising star in women’s tennis, garnered attention before her first-round match at Wimbledon against Alina Sabalenka. The Canadian athlete, who played for Texas A&M, helped lead the Aggies to a national championship prior to turning professional. She made it into the Wimbledon main draw after a strong qualifying round performance.
Interestingly, Bransteen’s modeling career also pulled focus on social media before the match. She’s represented by Wilhelmina Models and the Neal Hamil Agency. In a recent interview, she shared how modeling has financially supported her tennis aspirations. “I love being in front of the camera while filming. It’s fun, I love fashion. That was one of the reasons why I could pay for some of the trips. I didn’t want to ask my parents anything—I wanted everything to come from me and my tennis,” she expressed.
Bransteen also pointed out the surprising similarities between modeling and tennis, noting that both fields require presenting oneself effectively. “I wasn’t signed to these agencies for tennis. That was my look. Modeling and tennis are oddly similar. You’re a lot of objects,” she remarked.
In her match against Sabalenka, despite losing in straight sets, Bransteen put up a solid fight, especially in the second set, which ended 7-5 in favor of Sabalenka.
Bransteen, currently ranked 194th in the world, has achieved 136 career wins, along with seven titles in International Tennis Federation events. While the competition is fierce, her determination and unique journey continue to inspire both fans and fellow athletes alike.
