Democratic Strategist Doubles Down on Trump Administration Collapse Prediction

Democratic strategist James Kerrville expressed his strong belief on Thursday that he was correct when he predicted the collapse of the Trump administration within 30 days during President Donald Trump’s second term.

In a recent appearance on journalist Dan Abrams’ podcast, Kerrville not only reaffirmed his earlier claim but also suggested that Abrams had misinterpreted the situation.

“I think it’s collapsed now,” Kerrville stated. “30 to 180 days—it’s happening right in front of you.”

Discussion about Trump’s Administration

Abrams revisited the topic by playing a clip of Kerrville from February, in which he asserted that Trump’s administration was “collapsing” and would soon fall apart.

When asked if he still stood by those predictions, Kerrville confidently replied, “I was a pretty smart guy in February.” In his defense, he noted, “You’re looking at what’s going on, what’s coming up—there’s a public reversal happening.”

Insights on Upcoming Elections

Kerrville drew attention to Democratic candidates in upcoming elections, particularly pointing out the gubernatorial race in Virginia. “Do you know how much you can win in Virginia?” he asked. However, Abrams admitted he wasn’t sure. Kerrville responded, “It’s not going to be close.”

A poll from July indicated that the Republican candidates in Virginia were at 37%, while Democratic candidate Abigail Spanberger was leading at 49%.

Despite Kerrville’s confidence, Abrams pressed on, questioning the consistency of his earlier collapse assertion.

“I think so. Yes, that’s right,” Kerrville affirmed. When further probed by Abrams about his accuracy, Kerrville maintained, “Yes. I think they have about 37% to 40% approval. Their financial numbers are quite bad.”

Abrams continued to challenge Kerrville by referencing a poll that seemed to contradict his claims, which indicated that Trump’s approval ratings were ranging from 44% to 45.8% as of early August.

Kerrville dismissed these figures, stating that elections often reflect different sentiments. “I don’t want to discuss this poll or that one, but I look at various reputable sources, and I see something different,” he claimed.

Kerrville’s Previous Predictions

Notably, one of Kerrville’s earlier predictions did not pan out as expected. In the run-up to the 2024 presidential election, he wrote a column for The New York Times titled “Three Reasons Why I’m Surely Kamala Harris Will Win,” in which he was confident about her chances against Trump.

In that piece, he referred to Trump as a “repeated election loser,” stating, “It’s no different this time,” while still expressing optimism for the Democratic candidate.
