Cole Allen’s Court Appearance Related to WHCA Dinner Shooting
Cole Allen is set to face a detention hearing after being accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Prosecutors have shared a selfie taken shortly before the incident in April 2026, where Allen is seen brandishing multiple weapons. Criminal defense lawyer David Gelman is currently examining the premeditated aspect of the case, considering the strong evidence, including Allen’s online search behaviors and the Secret Service’s response to the situation.
A separate case involving Morgan Morrow, a West Virginia library employee who was indicted earlier this year for allegedly making threats against Trump on social media, has been dismissed. The Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney requested the dismissal without prejudice on April 16. Reports indicate that Morrow was not properly informed of her rights during interrogation, according to new filings.
“This case should never have been filed,” stated Morrow’s attorney, Mark Atkinson, in a comment to Fox News Digital.
Discussion Intensifies on Security After Multiple Threats
Following the recent assassination attempts on Trump, there’s an ongoing conversation about whether more thorough investigations are necessary. In January, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Morrow, 39, from Ripley, was arrested after what seemed to be a social media-driven effort to track down and harm the former president.
Morrow faced charges for making terroristic threats. The office made this announcement through a Facebook post. After the legal proceedings, many have raised concerns about the adequacy of security measures surrounding Trump, given the surge in such threats.
Reports mentioned a TikTok post where Morrow allegedly indicated an intention to harm the president, stating something about “sniper” and terminal illnesses in a rather cryptic manner.
Jackson County Public Library’s Director, Carla Long, confirmed that Morrow is no longer employed at the library following these events.
