Cavaliers did not include Timofey Mozgov in their 2016 NBA championship reunion

Timofey Mozgov Left Out of Cavaliers’ 10th Anniversary Reunion

Timofey Mozgov was notably absent from the Cavaliers’ 10th Anniversary Reunion, which created quite a buzz on social media recently.

The former center, who played a role off the bench during that unforgettable 3-1 comeback in the 2016 NBA Finals against the Warriors, shared his thoughts with a Russian outlet. He remarked that he felt completely omitted from the festivities.

“I did see the video from that gathering,” Mozgov told the outlet. “Nobody reached out to me. I would have loved to join if I had been invited.” He added, “Of course, I wanted to have some wine there.”

The event, hosted by LeBron James, included other key players like Kevin Love, Richard Jefferson, J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert, and Matthew Dellavedova.

The group spent time in the UK, visiting London and Scotland, and reminisced over golf and wine.

They shared glimpses of their reunion on social media, including a fun reenactment of a memorable scene from “The Hangover.”

Interestingly, Mozgov wasn’t the only significant player from that 2016 team who was absent. Kyrie Irving, renowned for his game-winning three-pointer in Game 7, also missed the trip, leading to some discussions online. J.R. Smith took to Instagram to clarify that Irving had reached out, saying, “We were good! God bless young GAWD!!! Greatest PG I’ve ever played with.”

Mozgov had spent parts of two seasons with the Cavaliers after being acquired from the Nuggets before the 2015 trade deadline. Over his time in Cleveland, he played in 122 regular-season games, averaging 7.9 points and 5.4 rebounds. However, his role diminished in the 2015-16 season after the Cavaliers brought in Frye at the trade deadline.

During the championship run in 2016, Mozgov participated in 13 playoff games, including five during the Finals, although he didn’t play in the decisive Game 7 against Golden State. That victory marked the franchise’s remarkable comeback from a 3-1 deficit and secured Cleveland’s first NBA championship.
