CBS host Margaret Brennan on Sunday interrupted Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, who criticized the media for defending President Biden over “false” statements made during last week’s debate, saying everything always seems to be the media’s “fault.”
Trump and Biden faced off in a presidential debate on CNN on Thursday night, with the president’s awkward and unconfident performance Media Brennan said that while Trump performed well overall in the debates, the CBS poll showed that “fewer voters viewed the former president as honest” compared to Biden.
“We know that the media has no interest whatsoever in fact-checking the many false claims made by Joe Biden,” Vance said before being interrupted by Brennan.
Republicans released footage from Jan. 6 of Speaker Pelosi discussing the absence of the National Guard and saying, “I take responsibility.”

“You know, I’ve lost track of the story,” Brennan told Vance, “and we’ve heard the media report every side of it and that it’s all our fault, but let’s get back to the candidate you wanted to talk about here.”
Brennan cited examples such as President Trump’s false claims about abortion and the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
“Mr. Trump falsely claimed that it is the law of the state to execute infants,” Brennan said. “You know killing a human being is illegal in every state.”
“Trump falsely claimed he offered to send 10,000 troops to keep the peace by January 6th, but that the then-Speaker of the House turned it down. According to congressional testimony by Trump’s own Acting Secretary of Defense, that never happened,” she continued.
“If he has such strong policies, why make false claims?” Brennan asked Vance.

The Ohio senator, who is seen as one of Trump’s potential running mates, criticized the media for its coverage of abortion and January 6th.
“I think the media interferes in a lot of these things,” Vance said. “We all know, and Nancy Pelosi herself has admitted on camera that she could have called for more National Guard troops. [and that] “She bears some responsibility for the fact that they were not at the Capitol.”
A previously unreleased video taken on Jan. 6, 2021, shows Pelosi saying law enforcement is “to blame” for not being prepared.
“We know that multiple Democratic governors and states, and even Democratic senators and representatives, have tried to pass laws that would effectively legalize abortion up until the moment of birth,” Vance said.
“Chris Miller said he was never ordered to deploy by the president. [10,000 troops] “I was at the Capitol that day,” Brennan said. Miller was the acting secretary of defense at the time.
“Margaret, Nancy Pelosi said on camera that she also bears responsibility for the National Guard not playing a larger role,” Vance responded.
