CBS News to broadcast QR code for live fact checking of vice presidential debate

CBS News is getting creative in its attempt to conduct Tuesday's vice presidential debate in a fair and productive manner.

The network this week will display QR codes on-screen during at least part of the live prime-time debate between Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D). Then he announced.

The code redirects viewers to the CBSNews.com blog, which provides live, real-time fact-checking of the claims made by Mr. Vance and Mr. Walz during the 90-minute forum.

Tuesday night hosts Margaret Brennan and Norah O'Donnell would not provide such fact-checking live on air. Network leaders told The New York Times this week:.

“The purpose of the debate is to foster good debate among the candidates, and the moderator will give the candidates an opportunity to fact-check each other in real time,” said CBS News Senior Vice President of Standards and Practices. President Claudia Milne said. Times.

The decision comes after ABC News, which hosted last month's presidential debate between former President Trump and Vice President Harris, came under fire from President Trump and his allies for its real-time fact-checking. I was disappointed.

CNN, which hosted the first clash of the election cycle between Presidents Trump and Biden, faced criticism from Democrats and media watchdog groups after hosts Jake Tapper and Dana Bash withheld real-time fact-checking on air. I received it.
