Celebrity Voices in NYC and California Political Landscape

Recently, some prominent figures in Hollywood have been vocal on social media, encouraging their followers to engage in the upcoming New York City mayoral election and California’s Proposition 50, which aims to reshape legislative districts to benefit Democrats.

Several left-leaning celebrities seem to be supporting Zoran Mamdani, who is running as a socialist candidate in New York City. Comedian Ilana Glazer, Marvel star Mark Ruffalo, actor Jeff Hillier, and activist Naomi Klein are among those participating in his campaign efforts, including phone banking events.

Filmmaker Michael Moore is rallying national support for Mamdani, having already expressed his endorsement. Meanwhile, actor Patton Oswalt is urging voters in Loudoun County, Virginia, to head to the polls.

Interestingly, George Takei, known for his role in Star Trek, shared his thoughts on the election’s importance, emphasizing voter turnout as crucial, especially in light of recent political events involving Donald Trump.

Mandy Patinkin, expressing his leftist views, has also shown support for Mamdani, utilizing Instagram to mobilize support. Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is another notable supporter of the socialist candidate.

However, not all Hollywood figures are aligned on this issue. Actress Amy Schumer is advocating for Andrew Cuomo in New York City, resonating with some fans who may have different political inclinations. Singer Marc Anthony has joined her in this support for Cuomo.

As for California’s Proposition 50, several stars are encouraging voters to approve it, arguing that it would allow for more equitable representation in state politics. Mark Hamill, famous for his role in Star Wars, is one of the prominent voices pushing for the proposition, attaching a motivational message to his call for action.

Additionally, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is also in favor of Prop 50, emphasizing the importance of voting in California and encouraging his audience to rally support.
