Arrest of Singer D4vd Linked to Daughter’s Murder
Celeste Rivas’ father expressed gratitude after the arrest of singer D4vd, who is implicated in his daughter’s tragic murder. In a statement following the arrest on Friday, he remarked, “Thank God… there will be justice for Celeste.” The family is devoted to ensuring that Celeste’s story is heard.
D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, was apprehended by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit on Thursday and is currently being held without bail. His arraignment is set for Monday.
According to law enforcement sources, police closely monitored D4vd, waiting for the right moment to act once they had sufficient justification. “We did our best to keep an eye on him,” Lt. Scott M. Williams of the LAPD stated, explaining that they had been intensely watching him once they had probable cause to suspect murder.
In September, the dismembered body of the 14-year-old girl was found in D4vd’s Tesla after an employee at a tow yard reported an unusual odor. Her remains were discovered in two disheveled body bags, one containing her head and torso, while other body parts were in the second bag. Insects were reported swarming around the remains, as revealed in documents from a Texas court. Celeste had been reported missing by her family in April.
After the discovery of her body, D4vd canceled tour dates and maintained a low profile. While a grand jury inquiry was initiated in February, he has not yet faced charges.
Law enforcement officials are feeling immense pressure to resolve the case swiftly. Captain Williams noted, “There was a lot of pressure from outside. In order to act quickly, investigators put aside distractions and did the meticulous work necessary to ensure the case was solid before the arrest.”
Meanwhile, D4vd’s legal team has rejected the allegations against him. “To be clear, the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not kill Celeste Rivas Hernandez and that he was not the cause of her death,” his attorneys stated in a joint response.
