US Conducts Airstrikes Against Iranian Positions
Over the weekend, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported carrying out a “self-defense strike” targeting Iran.
CENTCOM stated, “This weekend, U.S. Central Command conducted self-defense strikes against Iranian radar and drone command and control facilities in the Goruk and Qeshm Islands.” This move was reportedly in response to Iranian hostilities, including the downing of a U.S. MQ-1 drone operating in international waters. U.S. warplanes quickly reacted by destroying two one-way attack drones that posed a potential threat to Iranian air defenses and commercial shipping in the area.
No U.S. military personnel were reported harmed during these operations. CENTCOM emphasized its commitment to protecting U.S. interests against Iranian aggression during the ongoing ceasefire.
In related developments, Kuwait’s air defenses reportedly engaged to intercept drone and missile threats. Meanwhile, Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guards claimed to have retaliated against a U.S. strike, though specifics were unclear. Some statements indicated the U.S. had targeted communication towers in the region.
On Monday, CENTCOM announced that U.S. forces successfully intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles aimed at U.S. bases in Kuwait. Both missiles were neutralized, and again, there were no injuries to U.S. personnel. CENTCOM reassured that it will remain vigilant in countering any Iranian acts of aggression.
President Trump expressed confidence that Iran desires a deal, criticizing critics for complicating negotiations. He urged the public to “calm down and relax,” asserting that everything would eventually work out.
He remarked, “Iran really wants a deal, and it will benefit the U.S. and our allies. However, internal political friction is making my job harder. It’s confusing trying to navigate the situation while dealing with all this noise.” His comments were made on Truth Social, where he again reassured, “Just sit back and relax, everything will work out in the end.”
CENTCOM also noted the ongoing blockade against Iran. It reported that U.S. forces had disabled a Gambian-flagged vessel in the Gulf of Oman on May 29, which was likely heading towards an Iranian port, reinforcing the blockade.
