Cannes – Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson on Fashion and Jewelry Spending

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson isn’t one to splurge on designer clothes, but he’s all in when it comes to bling.

“You know, I’m incredibly frugal,” the former NFL wide receiver joked while attending the Cannes Lions International Creativity Festival on Monday.

Co-hosting the “Nightcap” podcast with Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe, Johnson revealed that his entire outfit cost just $80.

“For those who may not know, this floral shirt is made from 100% Egyptian cotton. I traveled to Egypt to get this cotton,” he shared, referring to his white button-up.

In contrast, a similar shirt from Zara uses a mix of lyocell, viscose, linen, and cotton.

Johnson, who mentioned he’s smoked 80 cigars, added that his blue-gray shorts are crafted from Indian cotton.

“My shoes? They look like your average designer kicks, right? But those can get pricey,” he said, pointing to his simple white sneakers. “So, I picked these up from Zara instead.”

A typical pair of those designer sneakers can easily run over $500.

He didn’t mention the two diamond necklaces bearing the names “Ocho” and “Cinco” in diamond letters, though.

“Jewelry? Yeah, I splurged there, so cut me some slack,” he said. “I spent my cash on that.”

“Instead of going for a Richard Mill, I opted for a Philippe Patek watch that resembles it—the same neon green design. It was originally priced at $900, but I snagged it for $200.”

Known for his bold fashion choices and vibrant personality, Johnson truly stood out during his 11 years in the NFL.

The smooth talker is forging his path and shared insights during a panel discussion at Sports Beach, focusing on building a successful brand, set for Thursday.
