‘Challenge’s Nelson Thomas to have foot amputated after crash

“The Challenge” star Nelson Thomas has announced he will have his leg amputated exactly one year after a brutal DWI car accident.

“March 5, 2023 remains vivid in my memory and forever present in my thoughts. I am consciously accepting it as the beginning of a new chapter. I have made the choice to amputate. “I am determined to make March 5 my own and redefine its significance in my life,” said Thomas. captioned an Instagram post Sunday.

“Get ready, amputation world! I’m on my way! I’m scheduled for surgery on March 5, 2024.”

The MTV personality shared the news along with a montage of photos of his severe injuries from the incident and his recovery over the past year.

Some photos showed him with a large gash just above his right ankle, burnt, bleeding and full of bones.

Thomas, 35, also included photos of himself lying in a hospital bed recovering from various medical procedures.

The reality TV star dubbed a montage of audio of his conversation with the doctor, in which the doctor explained his decision and how “it was time” to have his leg amputated.

“I had to ask myself what kind of life I wanted to live and what quality of life I wanted to live,” Thomas said. “I’m at peace with this and think it’s time. I’m ready to move on with my life, and I’m ready to see the other side of the world.”

Thomas’ doctor agreed with him, adding, “Are you the one?” Alums “will be in a better position to enjoy the rest of their term.” [his] life. “

The two also talked about the logistics of the surgery and Thomas’ support system.

Last year, Thomas lost control of his car and crashed into a bridge in Austin, Texas, causing a near-fatal accident that left him trapped inside and burst into flames.
