Luka Doncic’s Legal Proceedings and Injury Update
Luka Doncic’s ongoing legal situation with his ex-fiancée may give some insight into his potential return from a hamstring injury.
Recent court documents released by the California Post indicate that Doncic, alongside his attorney Laura Wasser, has agreed to delay a custody hearing with Anamaria Goltes until later this summer. This meeting was initially set for May 14.
If the Lakers manage to beat the Rockets in their playoff opener, their subsequent game will be against either the Suns or the Thunder in the first week of May.
Ideally, Doncic would be back on the court for this next series, but it seems a bit more complicated given his current injury status.
While Doncic and Wasser did not provide a specific reason for the adjustment, they’ve endorsed several new potential dates for the hearing, all of which fall after June 18, the day before the scheduled Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
The matter has now been pushed back to August 14, as indicated in the records.
This hearing is crucial; it will determine whether Goltes’ child support claim against Doncic is dismissed.
In Wasser’s submission regarding the request to change the order, she highlighted that “Slovenia is the appropriate forum to adjudicate this dispute,” emphasizing that none of the individuals involved currently reside in California. She also expressed concern that Goltes’ claim is an attempt to exploit California’s reputation for high child support payments.
Additionally, Wasser mentioned that Doncic had initiated a “family law case” in Slovenia back in February to tackle these issues.
Doncic and Goltes share two daughters and began their relationship during their teenage years. Their breakup came to light on March 10, coinciding with Goltes’ request for child support.
Since suffering a Grade 2 hamstring injury on April 2, Doncic hasn’t played for the Lakers.
The future remains uncertain for both Doncic on the court and in his personal life, with fans and supporters eager for clarity on both fronts.
