Channing Tatum Embraces New Role at World Cup

Channing Tatum is stepping into a fresh role at the World Cup, inspired by a striking resemblance to soccer star Erling Haaland.

Even though it’s not a paid gig, the “Magic Mike” star was seen mingling with fans at Gillette Stadium during a group stage match against France. He joined supporters dressed in long-haired striker outfits, donning jerseys with Scandinavian flags and sporting blonde wigs.

As one of Manchester City’s standout players in the Premier League, Haaland has become a key figure in the World Cup.

The team behind Nike’s “Rip the Script” ad was the first to highlight the likeness between the actor and the athlete. They enlisted Tatum, who is 46, to dress as the 25-year-old Haaland to help hype up the football event and raise awareness about this rising star in the sport.

Haaland seemed to appreciate Tatum’s effort, referring to him as a “handsome guy” in a behind-the-scenes clip shared on his Instagram earlier this month. The actor unveiled his Haaland look as part of a Nike promotional campaign.

“I’m not complaining,” Haaland mentioned, expressing excitement about the whole situation. “This is unbelievable.”

During the event, Tatum was spotted taking selfies with fellow Haaland impersonators and participating in team chants. He even took the time to sign autographs for enthusiastic fans.

Despite Haaland’s absence on the field during the group stage final, this newfound camaraderie didn’t seem diminished.

In the end, Norway lost 4-1 to France, but both teams progressed to the round of 32. Haaland has already tallied four goals in two group stage matches and is set to compete against Ivory Coast in Dallas on June 30, as the tournament continues.
