Charlamagne the God Critiques Politicians’ Accusations of Fascism and Communism

On Monday, radio host Charlamagne the God expressed his frustration over politicians hurling accusations of fascism and communism at one another, particularly following a cordial meeting between President Donald Trump and New York Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani.

The recent assassination attempt on Trump, alongside the killing of TPUSA co-founder Charlie Kirk, has ignited a national conversation about whether extreme political accusations are contributing to a perilous environment. The notably friendly interaction between both leaders caught attention, especially after a period marked by cautious remarks from both sides. In a moment that raised eyebrows, Mamdani dismissed a question regarding his earlier characterization of Trump as a fascist, saying it wasn’t important to him.

Charlamagne shared his views during the “Donkey of the Day” segment on his show. He suggested that the meeting illustrated how excessive and hypocritical such labels can be. “I don’t want to hear politicians calling each other ‘fascists,’ ‘communists,’ and the like. That kind of rhetoric needs to stop. If you call someone that and still plan to work with them, it just looks hypocritical,” he stated.

In his response to Mamdani’s interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Charlamagne reiterated his belief that Trump is a fascist but also acknowledged a willingness to collaborate. He questioned, “If Zoran truly believes Trump to be a fascist, then working with him doesn’t make sense. I don’t think he fully believes it, just as Trump likely doesn’t see Mamdani as a communist. It feels like political theater.” He underscored the irresponsibility of such rhetoric, noting its impact on voter polarization.

Charlamagne emphasized the personal consequences of political divisions, remarking, “You know who suffers the most? It’s us! My political stance led to a Thanksgiving invitation being revoked. Yet, those we support politically seem to share camaraderie. If Zoran and Trump can smile and engage warmly at the White House, isn’t it time we tried to enjoy family gatherings too?”

He concluded with a serious note for elected officials: “If you label someone a ‘fascist’ or ‘communist,’ then turn around and cooperate with them, it makes those terms lose their significance. It’s dangerous to trivialize such terms; it confuses people.”
