Americans for Prosperity (AFP) Action, the super PAC arm of billionaire Charles Koch’s conservative network, on Monday made seven-figure ad buys to support Republican Senate candidates in Pennsylvania and Nevada. The organization confirmed to The Hill that it has begun.
AFP Action has identified Republican candidates Sam Brown, who is seeking to unseat Sen. Jacky Rosen (D) in Nevada, and Dave McCormick, who is vying for Sen. Bob Casey’s (D) seat in Pennsylvania. The company is spending a total of $1.6 million on promotional advertising.
Mr. Brown and Mr. McCormick are the favorites to win their respective states’ Republican primaries.
The network, which has worked with Koch, said the series of ads highlights both candidates’ service histories and policy priorities.
Mr. Brown, a retired Army captain, launched his second bid for the Senate last summer after losing the previous Republican primary.
“For too long, Jacky Rosen has put Nevada’s best interests before Chuck Schumer and I have chosen to stand by those party leaders.” “A decorated military veteran and lifelong public servant, Sam Brown will be the right U.S. senator for the state where he was born.”
of 30 second ad Mr. Brown says he will “fight inflation,” “take a strong stand against reckless spending,” “unleash America’s energy,” and “secure our borders,” and the narrator says, “Sam Brown has served you before, but he… will serve you again,” he concluded.
One of former Bridgewater Associates CEO McCormick’s AFP Action ads pursues Casey and various U.S. policy issues.
The narrator of 30 second ad titled “Three Million” “Bob Casey has lived in Washington for 17 years. During that time, taxpayers have paid Casey nearly $3 million.”
“So what did we get in return? Sky-high inflation, a $34 trillion national debt, a wide-open southern border, and radical anti-energy policies that are costing Pennsylvania jobs.” continued the narrator. “Bob Casey failed Penn State. He deserves a pink slip, not another word.”
The Hill has reached out to Rosen’s camp for comment.
In another AFP action ad, The title is “Keystone Agenda” The network focuses on McCormick’s military service and reveals policy plans such as border security and expanding energy production.
“Pennsylvanians need new leadership in the Senate. Dave McCormick understands where inflation comes from – runaway government spending. He will end wasteful spending in Washington and be part of the solution. We are ready,” Ashley Klingensmith, Pennsylvania senior counsel for AFP Action, said in a statement.
Mr. Casey’s campaign condemned the ad in a statement to The Hill.
“David McCormick’s billionaire supporters distract from his disqualifying record of outsourcing American jobs, investing billions of dollars in China, and screwing with Pennsylvania workers. “They are attacking Sen. Casey because of this,” said Maddie McDaniel, Bob Casey’s press secretary in the Senate. “The truth is, Bob Casey is one of the most effective members of the Senate, and his efforts have created hundreds of thousands of jobs across the Commonwealth, led the way in reducing costs and combating fentanyl at the border. It means that there is.”
Mr. Casey leads Mr. McCormick by nearly 10 points in the Keystone State, according to an Emerson College/The Hill poll released last week.
The more than $1 million ad buy comes a day after AFP Action announced it would stop spending on Nikki Haley’s Republican presidential campaign and instead focus resources on Senate and House races.
