Charlie Kirk Calls for the 'Ruling Class' to Express Regret for Forecasting a Tariff Disaster That Has Not Occurred

Charlie Kirk Addresses Economic Predictions at CNBC

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, appeared on CNBC on Wednesday, urging economic leaders to express regret about the gloomy forecasts attributed to President Trump’s tariffs.

While many economists had warned that these significant tariffs would trigger inflation, that hasn’t materialized—as the stock market has actually risen to record highs. Kirk mentioned on “Scoebox” that he believes tariffs have repositioned America as a key player in the global economy, making it an attractive hub for investment.

He remarked, “There were predictions that sounded catastrophic, like panic, saying the entire world would collapse. Yet here we are, and those predictions haven’t come true.” Kirk emphasized that the economic elite should acknowledge this shift.

“When I previously stated that this could be the worst situation for the global market, it seems that, in reality, we’ve established America as a focal point where people are eager to invest,” he added.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which tracks the prices of a range of consumer goods, increased by just 0.2% in July, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Manufacturing output has also seen an uptick, with a 0.3% revision in May and a 0.1% revision in June reported recently. However, job growth appeared to slow, with the BLS noting that only 73,000 non-farm jobs were added in July.

On August 6th, Trump and Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple would commit an additional $100 billion to manufacturing in the U.S., supplementing a previous $500 billion pledge made in February. Furthermore, the president signed an executive order on Monday to delay the imposition of tariffs on Chinese goods for 90 days, while also reaching a trade agreement with Japan and the European Union.
