Controversy Surrounds Jimmy Kimmel’s Comments

Former Cincinnati Reds player Zach Cozart expressed support on social media for Disney’s recent decision to suspend comedian Jimmy Kimmel following remarks about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Disney confirmed to sources that Kimmel’s show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” would be off the air “indefinitely.”

“The tide is turning,” Cozart posted on X, adding an encouragement for persistence.

Kimmel had previously criticized the attempts to associate leftist ideology with Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in the killing. He referred to these efforts as hitting a “new low,” criticizing what he described as a political maneuvering by certain groups.

His comments ignited backlash from various quarters, including reactions from FBI officials and Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who responded the day after Robinson mentioned distancing himself from any political ideology. It later emerged that Robinson identifies as a biological male and is in a relationship with a transgender partner.

Brendan Kerr, the Chair of the Federal Communications Commission, warned Disney of potential repercussions if the situation was not addressed promptly.

On a recent episode of “Benny Show,” Kerr described Kimmel’s comments as “some of the most sick acts” he had seen. He suggested that there might be a path for the FCC to take, highlighting the public interest aspect of the issue.

Nexstar Media Group, which operates numerous television stations, announced it would replace Kimmel’s show with alternative programming in response to the controversy.

Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at an event last week at Utah Valley University, prompting widespread mourning across the country.

Funeral services for the conservative influencer are slated for September 21st in Glendale, Arizona.
