Charlie Kirk's warnings about socialism receive renewed focus following Trump-Mamdani meeting

Charlie Kirk Voices Concerns Over Socialism After Meeting Between Mayor-elect and Trump

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, is again highlighting the hazards of socialism. His remarks gained fresh attention following a meeting between Zoran Mamdani, New York City’s mayor-elect and self-identified democratic socialist, and President Donald Trump at the White House.

Kirk raised questions during a “Fox & Friends” segment on July 11, asking how to encourage young people under 35 to invest in the economy. “Instead of the Democratic approach to capital that tends to focus on redistribution, are they actually making mortgage payments? Do they own property? Or are they just stuck in a cycle of renting?” he pondered.

“A class of permanent renters is a crucial aspect of extreme politics that many would prefer to avoid,” he warned. He suggested that promoting property ownership could lead to more responsible voting behaviors, stating that ownership makes individuals less likely to engage in destructive actions or support candidates like Mamdani.

Later, while addressing the Turning Point USA Summit in Tampa, Kirk did not hold back on critiquing Mamdani’s advocacy for municipal grocery stores and his former stance on defunding the police. “It’s all nonsense,” he exclaimed. “But it’s curious to see why he’s gaining traction… People in New York are quite different from those in Florida, but there’s more at play. Young voters everywhere seem eager for their leaders to pay attention. They’re feeling the financial squeeze.”

As Kirk’s remarks resurfaced on “Fox & Friends,” the friendly meeting between Mamdani and Trump focused on pressing topics, including the affordability crisis and public safety in New York.

Mamdani stressed the importance of acknowledging disagreements in politics, stating, “Let’s bring issues to the table.” Co-host Brian Kilmeade pointed out that a recent poll indicated a majority of voters have a negative perception of the economy, expressing concerns about affordability.

The poll, conducted by Fox News, revealed that a staggering 85% of respondents believe prices have gone up compared to last year, while only 10% noted a decrease and 5% felt the costs remained steady.
