Chase adding bonus 5x "birthday" categories to Freedom and Freedom Flex – Frequent Miler

Chase has two credit cards with rotating 5x spending categories: Freedom Flex and regular Freedom (no longer available to applicants). The 5x categories for each card are the same and change every quarter. The 5x categories for the first quarter were announced earlier this month and include grocery stores (excluding Walmart and Target), Norwegian Cruise Line, health club and gym memberships, hair, nails and spa services.

however, credit doctor Readers noticed that the Chase app is showing an additional 5x bonus category to celebrate the Freedom Card's 15th anniversary. The bonus category for the first quarter is Insurance Claims and Tax Preparation Services, which is 5x for the month of March only.. Adding two categories does not add 5x up to $1500 per quarter. You just have two more options to get to it.

simple idea

This is a fairly minor, but potentially useful upgrade to this year's Freedom Card Rotating 5x Calendar. In my opinion, it's unnecessarily complicated considering these “bonus” categories are only available for one month per quarter (versus the other “regular” categories, which are valid for three months) However, some people may be able to maximize their profits by increasing the number of potential methods by 5x.

Tim Steinke

My wife Erin and I's first big trip was around the world in 100 days for our honeymoon. During that trip, I had one car accident in every country I visited, one speeding ticket (I think I might still get arrested), and an unpaid ticket in New Zealand. (I will issue a warrant for this, but I will keep it secret). We currently live in Washington state. We own a winery and after work we ski and hike as much as our aging knees allow.
