Food Companies Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary

With America gearing up for its 250th anniversary this summer, various prominent food brands are joining the festivities by introducing limited edition products with patriotic themes.

According to reports from Allrecipes.com, iconic brands such as Cheerios, Coca-Cola, Mountain Dew, and Oreo are launching special items to honor the nation’s milestone.

Cheerios is set to debut a birthday cake-flavored cereal in a festive red, white, and blue box early in the summer. This new release is described as tasting like vanilla cake and containing red, white, and blue sprinkles. Notably, the brand is committed to eliminating artificial colors, pledging to craft dyes from grains instead.

Coca-Cola, fully embracing the celebration, is offering “limited edition America 250 packaging,” which includes custom bottles and the first-ever collectible mini cans. Each mini can showcases a unique design representing one of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia, featuring local symbols from Georgia peaches to California’s surfers.

Meanwhile, Mountain Dew is also partaking in the celebration by temporarily rebranding itself as American Dew for the summer. The soda will sport American flag-themed labels and packaging.

On the cookie front, Oreo is planning to release its Firecracker Pop cookie, a collaboration with Popsicle, on May 4th. This cookie features a triple flavor combination of blue raspberry, lemon, and cherry cream sandwiched between two golden cookies. Responses on social media reveal mixed feelings; some are excited for the return of the three-layer Oreos, while others remain cautious, recalling previous failures of similar concepts. One commenter joyfully said it’s “perfect for Independence Day.”

In a related note, Steak ‘n Shake previously made headlines by launching its $2.50 Statue of Liberty milkshake, which combines vanilla ice cream with birthday cake, topped with whipped cream and patriotic sprinkles, along with a representation of the Statue of Liberty in dark chocolate.
