Chenedy Carter is making headlines again.
Once a controversial player in the WNBA, her time with the Chicago Sky took a turn when they didn’t extend her qualifying offer. Now, she’s playing in the Mexican League, and it seems she’s quite popular, signing autographs on fans’ chests during games.
Carter has been spotted interacting with fans, asking for photos, and at one point, a fan handed her a marker for an autograph right on her skin.
Some of these fans already had signatures from other players—maybe from those on the team Carter had just passed.
After signing, she playfully kissed the fans where she had written her name.
Last season, Carter was a key scorer for the Sky, but her time in the WNBA ended amid some locker room drama. There was one particularly heated moment last April when she shouted at Fever star Caitlin Clark and even hip-checked her, sending Clark to the floor.
How her former coach, Teresa Weatherspoon, addressed the locker room tensions seems to have split opinions among the coaching staff and players. In fact, some teammates were reportedly unhappy about how the whole situation was handled, which contributed to the overall atmosphere in the locker room.
Carter has been with three different teams in the last four years, with a stint where the Atlanta Dream released her due to issues with her behavior.
Still, her scoring ability—averaging 17.5 points per game—is part of why fans are eager for her return, especially after the Sky’s lackluster performance in their season opener against Angel Reese.
One fan even suggested on social media that the Sky should reach out to Carter, emphasizing they could use some of her scoring prowess again.
“Sky needs her back as soon as possible,” another fan chimed in.
