ICE Launches Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago
This week, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) kicked off Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago, making several arrests of undocumented immigrants while Fox News took an exclusive ride along with the agents.
On Tuesday, agents apprehended a Mexican national wanted on a federal criminal warrant for multiple felony offenses in the U.S. Reports reveal that this individual had been deported twice to Mexico and was re-entering the country for a third time.
The Fox News crew observed as the agent confronted the Mexican national outside his residence. In an attempt to evade arrest, the individual tried to get into a car. The agent had to break the windows to pull him out, and he continued resisting apprehension.
It’s been suggested that the individual may face further federal prosecution and could spend time in prison prior to being deported once more.
California Immigrants on ICE’s Notorious List
In a separate incident, on Monday, ICE arrested a 43-year-old undocumented immigrant from Mexico, who had previously been convicted of forced sexual assault against a child under 13 last year. This pattern is not uncommon, it seems—ICE is actively pursuing those considered to be among the most dangerous.
Deputy Director Madison Xiahan mentioned to Fox that their focus remains on apprehending the worst offenders. “These criminal foreigners have been wreaking havoc for Americans for years, but that time is over. Even facing pushback from Democratic leaders, we will continue our efforts,” he stated.
Operation Honors Victim of Drunken Hit-and-Run
This operation is particularly significant as it honors 20-year-old Katie Abraham, who tragically lost her life in a drunk driving incident in Illinois earlier this year, tied to illegal immigration issues from Guatemala.
Joe Abraham, Katie’s father, expressed in a Fox & Friends appearance that he hopes state leaders, including Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, collaborate with the Trump administration to enhance safety on the streets. “My daughter was taken away; I’ll never see her again. She died, I was sentenced to life,” he said.
In collaboration with other federal agencies like the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, this operation is expected to continue for several weeks and could lead to an escalation in actions against over 1,500 criminal foreigners, similar to last May’s Operation Patriot in Boston.
