An Illinois man was overwhelmed when he learned he had won a $650,000 lottery ticket after using numbers inspired by his late wife in a game he had never played before.
“I chose a number related to my late wife,” said lucky winner Big Money D.
“When I won, I felt like it was a message from her.”
Big Money D won a life-changing amount by matching five meaningful numbers: 9-11-12-13-17. This was announced by Illinois Lottery officials.
He did not explain what the number had to do with his late wife.
The Chicago resident wanted to try something new, so when he walked into Mariano's Grocery Store last Saturday, he decided to play the Lucky Day Lotto instead of his usual Pick 4 game. Selected.
In honor of his late wife, he won the game's top prize.
“I was so shocked and excited about winning that I could barely sleep,” he told lottery officials.
Retailers will also receive a $6,500 prize, lottery officials said.
Big Money D now plans to donate the money to his family and use the windfall to buy a new home for his children to grow up in.
“I'm already looking into housing and can't wait to buy my dream home for myself and my children,” he said.
“It was truly a dream come true.”
