A Chicago-area mail carrier and a local pup are breaking the mold with an iconic friendship that’s bringing joy to millions of people online and in their communities.
When Lisa Lasky adopted Franny, a long-haired Chihuahua, in 2021, she decided to introduce her to a nearby U.S. Postal Service worker on her route.
To Lasky’s surprise, the pup immediately fell in love with postman Dan Larsen.
“The mailman had just pulled up. I didn’t really know the guy. I said, ‘Hey, do you want to meet the new member of my family?’ “She was small and I held her very close,” she said. Said Fox 32 Chicago.
“And he said, ‘Yeah, sure, why not?’ And he stopped the truck. He got out of the mail truck and [I] Handing him the dog, she went crazy kissing his face over and over again, as if she had known him for years and years.” the owner exclaimed. “And she was, you know, 12 weeks old. And I thought, ‘This is so unusual.'”

Since she started sharing Larsen and Franny’s regular meetings, Lasky’s page has received more than 11 million likes. Hundreds of thousands of fans lovingly named this unlikely duo “Flandin.”
An even more heartwarming video shows Franny donning a miniature coat to brave the bitter Illinois cold and running into the arms of her favorite mail carrier.

Lasky said the small dog waits at the front door every morning that Larsen works, Monday through Saturday. Postman Dan also likes it, of course.
