Chicago Man Released After Involvement in Juvenile Death

A Chicago man with a criminal past has been released from prison following his arrest related to the death of a 9-year-old boy earlier this month. Michael Corosa, 52, faces charges of felony involuntary manslaughter in connection with the tragic incident involving Elijah Flores, who died on August 10.

At the time of the event, Flores was under the supervision of 22-year-old Jonah Soria—who was in a relationship with Flores’ mother. Reports indicate that an altercation erupted at a train station, leading to chaos.

According to accounts, when their train arrived, Soria allegedly shoved Flores onto the platform before robbing a man. The situation escalated quickly, and demands were made to flee the scene. Soria reportedly tried to pick up Flores and carry him away, but Corosa intervened, and tensions flared, resulting in tragic consequences.

Witnesses noted that Corosa pursued Soria and Flores, and during the scuffle, Flores sustained a severe head injury after hitting the pavement. Sadly, despite immediate efforts to rush him to the hospital, he did not survive.

Corosa was taken into custody on August 30 and is also facing additional charges linked to other assaults during the incident. However, he was released earlier this week while awaiting his trial. Interestingly, records show that he has a lengthy history of offenses, including serving two years in jail for an earlier crime involving a box cutter.

While Soria has not been charged in Flores’ death, he does have an unrelated warrant for retail theft. The situation raises many questions about accountability and the safety of vulnerable individuals in public spaces.

As for Corosa’s legal representation—it’s unclear if he has secured a lawyer. Attempts to contact relevant departments yielded no immediate responses.
