Chicago Man Robs Woman on CTA Days After Getting Probation for Prior CTA Robbery

A Chicago man is accused of robbing a woman on a train just 11 days after being released on probation by a judge for robbing two people outside a station on the same line, prosecutors said.

Isaiah Turner, 18, and two minors were arrested on March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) after allegedly robbing a man and a woman at the Oak Park station on the Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) Austin Blue Line. Reported.

According to prosecutors, the juveniles allegedly implied they had guns while demanding the victim's property.

Turner was also charged with a robbery that occurred on February 5th, when he was 17 years old.

Judge Antara Rivera agreed with the prosecution's argument for a detention petition, but Judge John Wellington Wilson allowed Turner to resolve the March robbery case by pleading guilty to the robbery charge on Aug. 27.

Wilson sentenced the juvenile to two years' probation based on a string of charges, according to court documents obtained by Chicago Crime News.

On Sept. 7, just 11 days after being placed on probation, Turner is accused of again implying he had a gun when he robbed a 24-year-old woman on a Blue Line train near Western Station, CWB Chicago reported.

In his detention order, Judge Rivera said the alleged victim, Lisa, was punched in the face and had her handbag, cell phone and Apple AirPods stolen.

According to police reports, officers saw a man matching Turner's description, dressed all in black and wearing a balaclava, and pursued him through the neighborhood.

“When officers tried to stop him, he ran away,” the outlet reported, “but police caught up with him.”

Police said he was in possession of a pair of headphones labeled “Lisa's Airpods Pro.”

CWB Chicago noted that Rivera's latest detention order states Turner is on juvenile probation for aggravated assault, but it's unclear if that stems from the February robbery.

It was not immediately clear what his new charges in connection with the latest incident are.
