Chicago Mayor Attacks ‘Evilness’ of Donald Trump’s Immigration Plan

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson gave his first speech on Saturday in response to President Donald Trump's plan to ramp up deportation operations in Chicago, delivering a scathing speech full of left-wing talking points but little else. There wasn't.

Self-proclaimed “progressive” Democratic mayor appeared On CNN host Victor Blackwell's “First of All” podcast on Saturday, Johnson declined to answer, despite being asked multiple times whether he would block Trump's deportation efforts. He refused, instead spouting a steady stream of anti-Trump talking points and liberal arguments. Doggerel.

Blackwell started a podcast ask Mayor: “Now let's start with your response to Homan saying he'll come after you if you get in his way.”

“Well, unfortunately, first of all, I would like to say, good morning, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to everyone around the world,” the mayor began. “Look, President-elect and former President of the United States Trump has shown incredible disrespect for people. My responsibility as the mayor of Chicago is to invest in people, protect people, and protect people. “It's about connecting the resources we ultimately need to not only build a better, stronger, safer Chicago, but also to build a sustainable economy,” Johnson said, dodging the question.

“You know, this president has shown disdain not just for immigrants, but for people who love public education. He's hell-bent on abolishing the entire Department of Education. As a former public school teacher , as a product of public education, as someone who sends their children to public schools. Working people in this country want public education to work,” Johnson said, continuing his anti-Trump talking points. .

“He has shown incredible hostility towards public housing, which was a means for families to find true stability, the ability to experience human rights. He has shown disdain for vouchers. “Since I took office, we have built 3,600 units of affordable housing in the city of Chicago.” he said, patting himself on the back.

“He has also shown great malice towards the Ministry of the Environment. He does not believe in science. percent here in the city of Chicago. We can build a green, blue economy and create real sustainable opportunities for people. So he wasn't just hostile to immigrants. “He has shown tremendous hostility towards workers across the city of Chicago, and it is my responsibility and pleasure to protect all residents of this beloved city,” he said, adding that he remains at Blackwell's office. Avoided the actual question.

Blackwell then played footage of President Trump's border czar Tom Homan. He said he is asking Democratic-run police departments to alert Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to the whereabouts of illegal criminals.

In a clip played by Blackwell, Homan said of police, “I don't want them to be immigration officers.” “All I ask is that you tell me where to find illegal aliens when they are arrested for serious crimes. I don’t want you to wait another minute. But please work with us to eliminate these public safety threats, not only off our streets but at home.”

Mr Blackwell honed his question to a sharper point, asking Mr Johnson: “So, I'd like to ask you specifically, does anyone in the CPD detain someone who fits that scenario, that profile, someone accused of a violent crime?” But does local law allow you to report it to ICE? And would you do so? ”

Mr Johnson once again hit a talking point with the left, refusing to actually answer any questions.

“The local law is, first of all, as a sanctuary city. As you know, this ordinance was created by Mayor Harry Washington, the first black mayor in Chicago's history. They understood that Latin America was in turmoil and were very clear that the city of Chicago serves as a haven for people from all over the world. has a powerful black liberation presentation,” Johnson exclaimed.

“Look, the law is very clear. Local police officers are not federal employees. That's clear. It seems like this so-called border czar is becoming more and more educated, perhaps through his speaking tours. But Trump It is unfortunate that there is such abhorrent ignorance within this government that it continues to cause chaos,” Johnson said in a well-worn tone of accusation.

The rest of the interview was equally unhelpful. CNN's Blackwell repeatedly pressed Johnson on this point, asking the mayor whether the city's sanctuary ordinance prevents police from informing ICE that there are illegal aliens in the city's jail, or whether the mayor I asked if he was responsible. — simply intending to enforce a personal policy of preventing that cooperation. However, the mayor refused to answer the question directly, instead dodging the issue and saying, “The police are “I'm not an administrator,” he repeated repeatedly.

Later in the interview, Johnson also falsely claimed that Jesus of Nazareth was a “refugee” when he was born.

“Across this country, people are celebrating the fugitive birth of Jesus Christ this holiday season. [sic] “It's political and religious oppression as a refugee, as an asylum seeker,” Johnson blurted out.

none Of course this is true. Christ's parents were not “refugees” or “asylum seekers,” and Christ was not born while they were “on the run” somewhere. Christ's parents, Mary and Joseph, had filed their taxes during their visit to Bethlehem and had not fled their home.

Nevertheless, despite a steady stream of false claims, false facts, and liberal talking points, Johnson has used the Chicago Police Department to help ICE agents round up and deport illegal aliens. Blackwell never told his audience whether he intended to physically object to carrying out the process. Windy city.
