Missing Chicago Teacher’s Disappearance Sparks Concern
A special education teacher from Chicago has gone missing, and her family is understandably worried as they plead for her safe return.
Linda Brown, 53, was last seen on Saturday afternoon in the 4500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Bronzeville, which is just about two miles southwest of Lehto Field, home of the White Sox. She was driving her blue 2021 Honda Civic to a regular acupuncture appointment when she vanished, according to police.
Her husband, Antwon Brown, mentioned that she had a quiet evening at home, watching a movie before going to sleep early. “When I woke up at 8:45 a.m., she was gone,” he told reporters.
After not hearing from her for several hours, Antwon and her family grew increasingly concerned upon realizing that she had missed her acupuncture appointment. Unable to reach her by phone, they reported her missing to the authorities.
Chicago police issued a bulletin indicating that the public school teacher might need medical attention. At the time of her disappearance, Brown had her cell phone, wallet, and credit card with her.
Unfortunately, efforts to track her vehicle have not led to any clues about her whereabouts. Antwon expressed his heartbreak: “I don’t know what to do. I’ve done everything. I’m talking to people, and there are people looking for her. I feel helpless.”
Her brother-in-law, Lorenzo Quintana, shared that the family is searching “everywhere possible.” Eyewitness accounts have not provided any helpful information, and it seems distressing for everyone involved.
In a letter to parents, Erin Kamrat, the principal of Robert Healy Elementary School where Brown teaches, acknowledged the situation and encouraged anyone with information to reach out to the police. “We understand that news like this can stir a range of emotions, questions, and concerns within our school community,” she wrote. Additionally, she assured that the CPS Crisis Unit is involved to support students and staff.
Antwon conveyed his fear, saying that his wife’s mom’s absence has put the family in a state of constant worry. “We love her. We miss her. We want her back home,” he stated.
Brown is approximately 5 feet tall, weighs around 130 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. The last known outfit she was wearing included a fluffy black coat and shiny UGG-style boots.
If anyone has seen her or has further information, they are urged to contact the Area 1 SVU detectives at (312) 747-8380.
