Tommy Lee Williams, 51, was arrested in Gwinnett County, Georgia, after attempting an armed robbery at a Chick-fil-A restaurant around 4:30 a.m.
According to Gwinnett County police, Williams was reportedly armed and masked when he entered the Chick-fil-A on Stone Mountain Highway and then threatened a delivery driver with a handgun in the kitchen area.

“When officers arrived, the victim identified himself as a delivery driver for the store and was working inside the store when the suspect threw a rock, smashing through the drive-thru window and entering the kitchen,” Gwinnett County Police wrote on Facebook.
“The suspect told the victim he would die if he did not open the safe and pointed a handgun at him. The victim told police he did not know the combination to the safe so he decided to fight the armed robber,” the post continued.

Surveillance footage showed the two men fighting over the gun for several minutes, with the Chick-fil-A driver eventually fighting off the armed robber.

During the scuffle, a Chick-fil-A employee successfully removed the armed robber’s mask and helped police identify the suspect. Williams then fled the store through a back door, police said.
Detectives with the Gwinnett County Police Department eventually identified the vehicle they believed was used in the attempted robbery, leading to the arrest of Tommy Lee Williams.

Williams was arrested on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, second-degree theft, kidnapping, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and second-degree criminal damage to property.
