Kansas City Chiefs Defensive end B.J. Thompson suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest during a team meeting Thursday, but is now “unconscious” but “stable,” according to his agent.
Thompson’s agent, Chris Turnage, said: NFL Network Tom Pelissero visited him in the hospital.

“BJ is still unconscious at this time but is stable and his vital signs are good,” Turnage said late Thursday night. “His family asks for your continued prayers.”

The medical emergency occurred during what was supposed to be the Chiefs’ final practice of their OTAs.
According to reports, the 25-year-old Thompson suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest during a special teams meeting at the Chiefs’ practice facility. He was immediately treated by trainers and medical staff before being transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Players were reportedly sent home on Thursday. A team spokesman told The Associated Press that the final overtime session has been rescheduled for Friday. Coach Andy Reid is expected to address the situation during his media availability on Friday.

During a Kansas City charity softball game later that day, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo spoke briefly about Thompson’s status.
“Before I say anything, I’m thinking about BJ right now,” Spagnuolo said. FOX 4 Kansas City. “It was scary. I think everyone was a little scared, and I was too. But I prayed a lot. [head athletic trainer] Rick [Burkholder] And his staff did a great job.”
Spagnuolo wasn’t in the room but praised the work of the trainers on the ground.

Thompson was a fifth-round pick by the Chiefs in the 2023 draft. He appeared in one game during his rookie season. Los Angeles Chargers In Week 18, he recorded two tackles.
