The Chiefs placed running back Clyde Edwards-Haley on the non-football sick list. According to ESPN:He struggles with PTSD.
He will miss the first four games before he is eligible to return.
Kansas City recently signed running back Samaje Perine to bolster their running back position.
Edwards-Haley, the Chiefs' first-round draft pick in 2020, opened up about his PTSD earlier this month.
“Sometimes I end up in the hospital because I can't stop feeling nauseous. [don’t] know [anything] “I did it to stop it,” Edwards-Helaire said, “I was really, really dehydrated… but mentally I just wasn't there.”
Edwards-Haley also spoke out about the incident on social media after missing multiple practices.
“Living with PTSD is never easy, it can be difficult and extremely overwhelming. [sic]Edwards-Helaire Post to X“I've had a number of flare-ups over the past month, but the wonderful staff here have #Chiefs It helped me get through a tough time. I'll try my best again at the next practice!”
He claimed his PTSD was caused by an incident on December 22, 2018, but did not provide details.
According to Baton Rouge police, two Louisiana State University football players, where Edwards-Haley played in college, shot and killed an 18-year-old boy who was attempting to rob them while trying to sell electronic devices that day.
Edwards-Haley was one of those two players. According to the Associated Press.
He has served as the backup to Isaiah Pacheco the past two years.
Last year, Edwards-Hailea recorded 223 yards rushing, 188 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.
Edwards-Haley recorded a career-high 803 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie, while also adding 297 yards and one touchdown receiving.
