The Kansas City Chiefs’ workhorse isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
The Chiefs and kicker Harrison Butker reportedly agreed to a four-year contract worth $25.6 million, the largest in NFL history, with $17.75 million guaranteed, also the largest amount for a kicker.
Butker is almost an automatic in the NFL, even though he plays in sub-freezing temperatures in Kansas City.

Over his seven-year career, he has made 89.1 percent of his field goals and 94.5 percent of his extra-point attempts, but last season was his best, making 38 of 38 PAT attempts and 33 of 35 field goals (a career-best 94.3 percent).
“There’s no place I feel more at home with the Chiefs and I’m excited to have finalized a four-year contract extension. To the Heights!” He posted on X.
The three-time Super Bowl champion added new records to his resume in Super Bowl 53 in February by making 4 of 4 field goal attempts, including two game-tying kicks in the fourth quarter, including one that sent the game into overtime with three seconds left in the game.

Butker has been a highly polarizing figure this offseason after giving a faith-based speech at Benedictine University’s graduation ceremony in which she urged women to embrace the title of “housewife.”
The controversial speech drew both praise and backlash, with even the university’s nuns saying his comments were “divisive” and “not representative of the university’s values.”

However, shortly after the speech, Butker’s jersey became one of the most popular in the NFL’s online store.
Matt Araiza will also be the team’s punter in Week 1. Araiza signed with the team shortly after a rape accuser dropped his lawsuit after prosecutors said the act was consensual.

The deal will keep Butker with the Chiefs through the 2028 season, when he will be 33 years old.
