Kelce has kicked off the 2026 season with a bang. Sure, it’s only been two games, but he’s averaging an impressive 86 receiving yards per game—his best since 2020 when he reached a career high of 94.4. He’s also achieving the highest yards per reception of his career at 14.3.
Reid attributes this success to a couple of factors: Kelce’s impressive work ethic and his relationship with Taylor Swift, who, I assume has a significant influence on him.
“Trav worked his tail off. That’s the bottom line,” Reid noted during a remote press conference on Monday.
He commended the dedication Kelce has shown, along with the support of those around him, likely referring to his new wife, Swift.
Many questioned whether Kelce might struggle with fatigue following his wedding and honeymoon. Reid humorously posed the question and then quickly dismissed the idea, mentioning that Kelce seems to be keeping pace with Swift’s energetic lifestyle.
“He works his rear end off, and I think Taylor [Swift], you know, she puts on four-hour shows, so he’s got to be working hard too. I’m sure she keeps him on his toes,” Reid added.
Reid continued to emphasize how Kelce has focused on improving his strength, particularly in his glutes and overall body, areas crucial for power and speed—factors essential for maintaining his performance.
The Chiefs seem particularly attuned to the importance of hard work, with Kelce mentioning after a recent victory over the Indianapolis Colts that his teammates were really giving it their all. “Guys were playing their tails off for one another, and that’s what’s great about this team right now,” he shared. “We’re in a zone where everyone is feeding off each other. There was never a doubt we’d come away with that win.”
Swift continues to draw media attention every time she’s spotted at a Chiefs game cheering for Kelce, and this past Sunday was no exception. Videos captured her in the luxury suites at Arrowhead Stadium, visibly excited when Kelce scored a touchdown in the first quarter, enthusiastically exclaiming, “That’s my husband!” while pointing at her ring finger.
