Chiefs likely getting Marquise Brown for stretch run in huge boost

The Chiefs could use some help at receiver.

Barring some setback, Kansas City has activated Marquise “Hollywood” Brown from injured reserve and intends to play in Saturday's game against the Texans. According to ESPN.

Brown has not played a snap for the Chiefs this season after sustaining a sternoclavicular shoulder injury during the team's first preseason game in August.

The 27-year-old wideout initially underwent IR treatment, but later opted for surgery.

“When I found out I needed surgery, my first wave of emotions was disappointment, frustration and sadness, but it only lasted a day or so because of my faith in God.” [sic]” Brown posted on X at the time. “…Let's go Chiefs!!” See you then. ”

However, Brown, who finally returned to practice last week after undergoing rehabilitation, appears to be getting his chance with the Chiefs.

“He did a great job,” head coach Andy Reid told reporters. “He was able to run and stay in shape with his running.”

Reid added that there is “a good chance” Brown will be activated during Saturday's tilt.

Brown, an Oklahoma native who was selected 25th overall by the Ravens in the 2019 NFL Draft, had the best season of his career in 2021 in Baltimore, with 91 catches for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.

Brown will join Kansas City's revamped receiving corps along with DeAndre Hopkins and rookie Xavier Worthy, acquired from the Titans at the trade deadline.
