The Kansas City Chiefs had a late 17-10 victory over their AFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, on Sunday, but they suffered a big loss in the game and could be in for a very serious situation going forward. There is sex.
Wide receiver Lachie Rice, the NFL's top receiver through the first three weeks of the season, accidentally ran into the knee of his favorite target while trying to tackle a Chargers defender on Patrick Mahomes' interception and was dragged off the field. Served. Turn him off.
Rice collapsed in the field and was in a lot of pain. He had a towel over his face and his hands on his head as he was carted away, which is never a good sign when it comes to a knee injury.

Head coach Andy Reid said after the win that the team would wait for the results of Rice's MRI scan, but he doesn't expect anything positive. According to multiple reports, the Chiefs are concerned that Rice suffered a torn ACL, which could be a major blow to the offense for the remainder of the game.
“I feel terrible for Mr. Lachie,” he told reporters. “…We will do our best.”
If he suffers a season-ending injury, the Chiefs will be without Rice, Hollywood Brown, who was out for the season before playing against Kansas City, and Isaiah Pacheco, who is rehabbing from a fractured fibula.

It's been a tough downtime for the Chiefs, but just like this game, they just need the next guy to step up to come away with a win.
The Chargers, who had been a terrible team heading into this tournament, forced Justin Herbert and the Chargers' offense into a three-and-out before the Chiefs rallied in the fourth quarter in a 10-on-10 game. Herbert entered Sunday's game battling an ankle injury that appeared to limit his range of motion.
A few plays later, the Chiefs had a 29-yard reception from tight end Noah Gray and a first-and-goal from their 2-yard line with 6:04 left. That's when Samaje Perine, one of the three running backs Reid brought in Sunday, darted into the end zone to give the Chiefs the lead late in the game.
Although there was plenty of time for the Chargers to operate, Herbert struggled to sustain drives throughout the game and was unable to get the job done. Los Angeles was forced to punt and was unable to get the ball back. The Chiefs ran out the remaining time after the team's rookie speedster, Xavier Worthy, gained 15 yards on 3rd-and-6 and got the first down he needed to take a knee.
With Rice down, Mahomes relied on Worthy's incredible speed to score the team's first touchdown, and the highlight reel shows the quarterback using all of his arms to fire a 54-yard attack to Worthy in the end zone. It became a play.

This gave Los Angeles a 10-7 advantage in the game, and Los Angeles scored its only touchdown on its first possession after a Chiefs fumble in the first four plays. Herbert went 10 plays, 74 yards and found rookie receiver Ladd McConkie in the back of the end zone on the absolute dot he could catch from 7 yards out.
However, while the Chiefs struggled with turnovers, the Chargers had two starting tackles, Rashawn Slater and rookie Joe Alto, out and Herbert was pressured in the pocket, making it difficult to advance the game. I couldn't.
Herbert completed 16 of 27 attempts for 179 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions, while Mahomes completed 19 of 29 for 245 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Seven of Mahomes' completed passes went to tight end Travis Kelce, and he finally had a get-right game after gaining only 69 total yards in his first three games. He led the game with 89 yards on those catches, and Worthy had 73 yards on three.
Kareem Hunt's return in a Chiefs uniform was also something Kansas City fans were happy about. He gained 85 yards from scrimmage and appeared to solidify his role as the team's top running back in Pacheco's absence. On the day, he gained 69 yards on 14 carries, and Perine and Steele combined for 7 yards.
It wasn't a good result for either team, but once again the Chiefs did the right thing in the fourth quarter and won.

The Chiefs are still undefeated, but with Rice not expected to return this season, the Chiefs will need to see everyone contribute.
